Michael Atkins, Attorney

Michael Atkins

Mike Atkins taught trademark law at the University of Washington School of Law for nine years, and has lectured on intellectual property issues in China, France, Germany, and Spain, and throughout the United States. The World Trademark Review lists him as a “Recommended Expert”; he is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a designation given to less than 0.5% of U.S. attorneys; he is rated a perfect “10.0” by the Avvo attorney rating company; and he has been a Washington “Super Lawyer” every year since 2010. Mike publishes the popular Seattle Trademark Lawyer blog. He has been practicing law in Seattle for 20 years.

Known for providing strategic advice, Mike prosecutes applications for trademark and copyright registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Copyright Office. When necessary he vigorously protects his client’s intellectual property interests in court and before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Mike is Seattle native. He graduated from St. John’s University (Collegeville, Minn.) and the University of Minnesota Law School, before returning home. These days, he splits his time between Seattle and Mexico City, which gives him a unique international perspective, not to mention a raft of frequent flyer miles. When not working, he enjoys running, skiing, studying Spanish, and searching for the world’s best tacos al pastor.
