Paul McCartney consistently supported legalization of marijuana for decades. Way back in 1997, he made clear as to why:

People are smoking marijuana anyway. To make them into criminals is wrong.

Of course he is right. We already have too many people in jail and there is nothing fair about someone going to jail for years in a state where pot is illegal while people in states like Washington, Colorado, Oregon, and Alaska, and the District of Columbia, are free to smoke without fear of arrest. It’s time we legalized nationwide.
