Harris Bricken welcomes Robert M. Kossick to its international trade practice, which provides strategic legal solutions for U.S. and international companies doing business and facing legal disputes across borders.
With over twenty years of cross-border transaction experience, Robert is a board-certified international attorney and licensed customs broker whose practice has centered on import compliance and enforcement, export control and economic sanction, and supply chain security issues.
Robert practiced customs and trade law with a Fortune 50 corporation and with international law firms in Texas, Florida, and Mexico before founding his own law firm in Washington, U.S. Customs & Trade Law. He is a member of The Florida Bar and the State Bar of Texas, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Robert counsels clients on legal strategies that help them manage the risk associated with a complex and constantly changing regulatory environment, minimize customs duties, identify and comply with U.S. government import and export requirements, challenge administrative determinations, disclose violations, redress issues arising out of trusted traveler programs, and secure supply chains. His practice also involves supporting clients in mitigating the impact of penalty, seizure/forfeiture, and liquidated damage claims.
Earlier in his career, Robert worked as a trade policy analyst under former U.S. Trade Representative William Brock, and conducted research consultancies for the World Bank and U.S. Agency for International Development. He holds a Ph.D. In International Trade and an LL.M. in Latin American Law, publishes and lectures on a wide range of international trade and development issues, and speaks Spanish fluently.
